Phileas Fogg, the protagonist of Jules Verne’s classic *Around the World in 80 Days*, certainly lived in this vintage ship’s cabin. Here, he gradually charted his course on the large late-19th-century world map, marking all the ports where he docked. Here, he gathered valuable tools to help him navigate his long journey—such as telescopes, compasses, and sextants—as well as mementos from the ports he visited, ranging from Persian rugs to Japanese silks to Native American textiles. There’s no shortage of hot-air balloons—a true tribute to one of the modes of transportation used by Mr. Fogg on his adventurous journey, as well as to one of Mondovì’s symbols. The card table, placed right at the entrance, recalls the bet Fogg made at his London club.
